Background Note
CITCO was incorporated as a company under the Companies Act, 1956, in March
1974. It started operations in September 1974 as the Chandigarh Small Industries
Development Corporation (CSIDC).
The year 1982 was a significant one for CITCO
as in this year it was given the additional role of promoting tourism and other
related activities. The name was also changed from CSIDC to Chandigarh
Industries and General Development Corporation Limited (CIGDC). In the same
year, the management of two hotels, Hotel Mountview and Hotel Parkview (then
Chandigarh Yatri Niwas), was transferred to it...

bar in Amsterdam (Netherlands), it decided to open a bar with 'condoms' and
'safe sex' as the theme...

The Ambience of the Bar
The Condom Bar was a unique bar-cum-discotheque. It was conveniently
located on the highway to ensure visibility and easy access. Bir said,
"I chose this place because it is on the highway and is easily
accessible."CITCO took care that the ambience of the bar was in
consonance with the theme. Everything in the bar strove to aesthetically
convey the message that a condom was the most important tool for
protection against HIV transmission. |
The entrance to the bar bore the words 'Condom Bar' in bold
letters. Customers were allowed entry to the bar for a basic cover charge from
which the cost of the food and drinks was deducted...
